The route to the North Shore of the State of Nayarit takes travelers from the Puerto Vallarta airport and across the bridge on the Ameca River. After crossing this state boundary, Hwy. 200 will lead you past Nuevo Vallarta with all of its various amenities and attractions such as waterslides, marina and shopping centres past the town of Bucerias and onward past the turn off to the town of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta de Mita.
The hwy. then turns to follow the west coast of Nayarit State. The winding road passes through rolling hills with their farm land, forest vegetation and small villages and towns and leads to the beach front towns of Sayulita, San Francisco, Rincon de Guayabitos and eventually to the fishing town of San Blas. All along the route you will find a variety of accommodations, restaurants, activities as well as magnificent beaches that stretch for kilometers. These smaller centers offer you the chance to stay in quiet settings and enjoy the hospitality of the residents as they guide you to the varied attractions that will make any trip up the North Shore one not to be missed.
